The tribe of Ad rejected the Messengers. 123 when their brother Hood said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 124 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 125 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 126 I do not ask for any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 127 What, you build a monument on every hill merely for fun 128 "And do ye get for yourselves fine buildings in the hope of living therein (for ever)? 129 And when ye seize, ye seize like unto tyrants. 130 So fear Allah, and obey me. 131 “Fear Him Who has aided you with the things you know.” 132 Gave you increase of cattle and sons, 133 and gardens, and springs -- 134 I fear the punishment of a terrible day for you. 135 They replied: "It is all the same for us whether you admonish us or not. 136 This is not but the custom of the former peoples, 137 And we are not going to be punished. 138 In this there is evidence (of the Truth), yet most of them do not have any faith. 139 Yet surely your Lord is mighty and merciful. 140
