Whatever hardship befalls you is the result of your own deeds. God pardons many of your sins. 30 You cannot challenge God on earth and you will have no one besides Him as your guardian or helper. 31 And among His signs are the ships that run on the sea like mountains and 32 if He willed, He could bring the wind to a standstill and they would lie motionless on the surface of the sea, truly there are signs in this for anyone who is steadfast and grateful, 33 Or He may destroy them (by drowning) because of that which their (people) have earned. And He pardons much. 34 and that those who dispute concerning Our signs may know they have no asylum. 35 So whatever thing you have been given - it is but [for] enjoyment of the worldly life. But what is with Allah is better and more lasting for those who have believed and upon their Lord rely 36 who refrain from heinous sins and gross indecencies; who forgive when they are angry; 37 Who obey the commands of their Lord and fulfil their devotional obligations, whose affairs are settled by mutual consultation, who spend of what We have given them, 38 And those who, when an oppressive wrong is inflicted on them, (are not cowed but) help and defend themselves. 39 The recompense of evil is evil the like of it. But he who forgives and makes amends, his reward lies with Allah. Surely He does not love the wrong-doers. 40 But indeed if any do help and defend themselves after a wrong (done) to them, against such there is no cause of blame. 41 The cause is only against the ones who wrong the people and tyrannize upon the earth without right. Those will have a painful punishment. 42 To exercise patience and forgive (the wrong done to one) is the proof of genuine determination. 43
