Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Nay! I swear by the day of resurrection. 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching soul. 2 Does man think that We shall not gather his bones? 3 Surely yes, why not? We can properly make all his phalanxes. 4 None the less man chooses to deny what lies ahead of him, 5 asking [derisively,] "When is that Resurrection Day to be?" 6 When, then, the sight shall be confounded. 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 And sun and moon are united, 9 upon that day man shall say, 'Whither to flee?' 10 But there is nowhere to take refuge: 11 on that Day, to your Lord alone is the recourse. 12 Man will be informed that Day of what he sent ahead and kept back. 13 Oh, but man is a telling witness against himself, 14 Whatever the excuses he may offer. 15 Move not thy tongue therewith that thou mayest hasten therewith. 16 It is for Us to collect it and to promulgate it: 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation (by Us). 18 It's explanation is upon Us. 19 Nay, (ye men!) but ye love the fleeting life, 20 and are heedless of the Everlasting Life. 21 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 22 gazing towards their Lord. 23 And countenances on that Day shall be scowling. 24 Fearing that a great disaster is going to befall them. 25 But when [man's soul] reaches the throat, 26 and the angels say, "Who will take away his soul, 27 and he realises that the hour of parting is come, 28 and when leg is intertwined with leg, 29 To your Lord, that Day, will be the procession. 30
