The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the heaven and the night-comer 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 The piercing star! 3 No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. 4 So let man consider of what he was created; 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 So I call to witness the rain-producing sky, 11 And the earth splitting (with plants); 12 this (Qur'an) is surely a decisive Word, 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
