Alshu'araa' 10 of 11
The dwellers of Al-Aiyka [near Madyan (Midian)] belied the Messengers. 176 when their brother Shu'ayb said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 177 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 178 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 179 And I do not ask you any reward for it, my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds; 180 ۞ “Measure in full, and do not be of those who reduce.” 181 “And weigh with a proper balance.” 182 and diminish not the goods of the people, and do not mischief in the earth, working corruption. 183 "And fear Him Who created you and the generations of the men of old." 184 They said: You are only of those deluded; 185 Thou art but a mortal like us, and lo! we deem thee of the liars. 186 Then make fragments of the heaven fall upon us, if thou art of the truthful. 187 (Shu'aib) said: "My Lord knows well what you are doing." 188 Then they belied him; wherefore there laid hold of them the torment of day of shadow. Verily it was the torment of a Mighty Day. 189 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 190 Yet verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 191
