The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount Sinai, 1 And the Scripture inscribed 2 in an exposed parchment 3 by the much-visited House, 4 And [by] the heaven raised high 5 And the swollen sea 6 VERILY, [O man,] the suffering decreed by thy Sustainer [for the sinners] will indeed come to pass: 7 There is none who could avert it. 8 On the day when the heaven shall move from side to side 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 Will be the day of woe for those 11 such as play at plunging, 12 On that Day when they shall be pitched into the Fire of Gehenna (Hell), 13 This is the Fire which you used to belie. 14 Is it magic then or do you not see? 15 Roast in it. Bear it with patience or impatience, it will be the same for you. You will be requited for what you had done." 16 Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace. 17 Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire. 18 [And they will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer as an outcome of what you were wont to do, 19 The God-fearing shall be reclining on couches facing each other, and We shall wed them to maidens with large, beautiful eyes. 20 The offspring of the believers will also follow them to Paradise. So shall We join their offspring to them because of their faith. We shall reduce nothing from their deeds. Everyone will be responsible for his own actions. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire. 22 There, they shall pass from hand to hand a cup which does not lead to any idle talk or sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. 24 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 25 'When we were among our people' they will say, 'we were ever fearful, 26 "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. 27 We had prayed to Him; He is Kind and All-merciful". 28
