The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By those who drag forth to destruction, 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 Hearts on that Day will be throbbing; 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? 18 And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him? 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. 26
