Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 In which are high thrones. 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 and arranged cushions 15 and well spread carpets. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
