The 'Aad belied the sent ones. 123 Recall, when their brother Hud said to them: "Have you no fear? 124 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 125 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 126 And I do not ask you any reward for it; surely my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds 127 Do you build monuments on every high place in vanity, 128 And do you take to yourselves underground reservoirs, in order to live for ever! 129 And will you [always,] whenever you lay hand [on others,] lay hand [on them] cruelly, without any restraint? 130 So fear Allah, and obey me. 131 And fear Him Who hath aided you with that which ye know. 132 Provided you with grazing livestock and children 133 and with gardens and springs. 134 “Indeed I fear upon you the punishment of a Great Day.” 135 They replied: 'It is the same to us whether you admonish or whether you are not one of the admonishers. 136 This is but a custom of the ancients. 137 And we are not going to be punished. 138 So they rejected him, and We destroyed them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 139 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 140
