Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the dawn, 1 And [by] ten nights 2 and the even and the odd, 3 And by oath of the night when it recedes 4 Is there in that an oath for the mindful? 5 Did you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) not see (thought) how your Lord dealt with 'Ad (people)? 6 (The people of) Aram, possessors of lofty buildings, 7 The like of which were not created in the (other) cities; 8 and with the Thamud, who cut out [huge] rocks in the valley, 9 And with Fir'awn, owner of the stakes 10 Who did transgress beyond bounds in the lands (in the disobedience of Allah). 11 and exceeded in corruption therein. 12 Therefore your Lord let down upon them a portion of the chastisement. 13 Verily, your Lord is Ever Watchful (over them). 14 As for man, whenever his Lord tries him, and honours him, and blesses him, then he says, 'My Lord has honoured me.' 15 whereas, whenever He tries him by straitening his means of livelihood, he says, "My Sustainer has disgraced me!" 16 Nay! but you do not honor the orphan, 17 And you do not encourage one another to feed the poor. 18 and greedily devour the entire inheritance, 19 And you love wealth with much love! 20 No! But when the earth quakes and is pounded, 21 And your Lord comes and (also) the angels in ranks, 22 And hell is made to appear on that day. On that day shall man be mindful, and what shall being mindful (then) avail him? 23 He shall say, 'O would that I had forwarded for my life!' 24 But on that Day none will punish as He (Allah) will punish, 25 and Allah will bind as none other can bind. 26 (It will be said to the pious): "O (you) the one in (complete) rest and satisfaction! 27 Return to your Lord well-pleased (with your blissful destination), well-pleasing (to your Lord). 28 Enter thou among My servants! 29 into My Paradise. 30
