The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 And [by] the day when it appears 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 your striving is indeed to different ends! 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 And accepts the best, 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 And rejects goodness, 9 We shall surely ease him to the Hardship; 10 and what will his wealth avail him when he goes down [to his grave]? 11 Lo! Ours it is (to give) the guidance 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 Wherefore I have warned you of Fire flaming, 14 None shall enter it but the most unhappy, 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 not as payment for favours received, 19 seeking only the Face of his Lord, the Most High, 20 He surely will be pleased (when he will enter Paradise). 21
