The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the sky, (displaying) the Zodiacal Signs; 1 by the promised day, 2 And by the witness and that whereunto he beareth testimony, 3 Cursed were the people of the ditch (the story of the Boy and the King). 4 Of the fuel-fed fire, 5 When they sat by it 6 fully conscious of what they are doing to the believers, 7 And what did they dislike from the Muslims, except that the Muslims accepted faith in Allah the Most Honourable, the Most Praiseworthy? 8 Him unto Whom belongeth the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is of all things the Witness. 9 Those who persecuted the believing men and women and never repented, there is for them the punishment of Gehenna (Hell), and for them the punishment of the burning. 10 But those who believe and do good deeds shall be rewarded with gardens watered by flowing rivers. That is the supreme triumph. 11 Verily the grip of thine Lord is severe. 12 Surely He it is Who originates and reproduces, 13 He is the forgiving and the loving, 14 Owner of the Throne, the Exalted. 15 He does what He intends (or wills). 16 Have you not heard the story of the hosts 17 of the Pharaoh and Thamud? 18 Nay, but those who disbelieve live in denial 19 Whereas Allah is, from behind them, Encompassing. 20 Nay; but this is a glorious Qur'an, 21 (Inscribed) in Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz (The Preserved Tablet)! 22
