Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
HA MIM. 1 A sending down from the Merciful, the Compassionate. 2 A Book whose verses have been distinguished and explained, a lucid discourse for people who understand, 3 It contains glad news and warnings (for the people), but most of them have ignored it and do not listen. 4 They say: "Our hearts are under veils, (concealed) from that to which thou dost invite us, and in our ears is a deafness, and between us and thee is a screen: so do thou (what thou wilt); for us, we shall do (what we will!)" 5 Say thou: I am only a human being like unto you; only it is revealed unto me that your God is but One God, wherefore take the straight path unto Him and seek forgiveness of Him. And woe be unto the associators. 6 Those who do not give the obligatory charity, and who deny the Hereafter. 7 As to those who have faith and do good works, surely theirs shall be a never-ending reward. 8
