When the messengers came to Lot and his family, 61 he said to them: 'I do not know you' 62 They answered: "Nay, but we have come unto thee with [the announcement of] something that they [who are given to evil] have always been wont to call in question, 63 We bring you the truth, and indeed we are truthful. 64 "Then travel by night with thy household, when a portion of the night (yet remains), and do thou bring up the rear: let no one amongst you look back, but pass on whither ye are ordered." 65 And We decreed for him that commandment, that the last remnant of those should be cut off in the morning. 66 The people of the town came along, revelling, 67 [Lout (Lot)] said: "Verily! these are my guests, so shame me not. 68 Fear God and do not shame me." 69 They said: forbade we not thee against the worlds? 70 [Lot] said: "[Take instead] these daughters of mine, if you must do [whatever you intend to do]!" 71 By your life! In their drunkenness they were truly blind. 72 So they were seized by the mighty blast at break of day; 73 And We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay. 74 Indeed in this are signs for people who perceive. 75 surely it is on a way yet remaining; 76 surely in that is a sign for believers. 77 Since the People of the Forest were unjust, 78 and We took vengeance on them. The two of them were upon a roadway manifest. 79
