The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
