Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 in a sublime garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
