Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In a high Garden. 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
