The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the Mountain, 1 Consider [God's] revelation, inscribed 2 In a Scroll unfolded; 3 by the much-visited House, 4 and the roof uplifted 5 And the swollen sea 6 Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur. 7 there is none who could avert it. 8 Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 woe that day unto those that cry lies, 11 such as play at plunging, 12 On that Day when they shall be pitched into the Fire of Gehenna (Hell), 13 "This is the fire which you were wont to call a lie! 14 What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? 15 “Enter it – now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient – it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” 16 Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, 17 rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. 18 (And it is said unto them): Eat and drink in health (as a reward) for what ye used to do, 19 Reclining upon couches ranged in rows; and We shall espouse them to wide-eyed houris. 20 To those who have attained to faith We shall unite their offspring who have also followed them in faith, and We shall not let any of their good deeds go unrewarded; every human being is a pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 And We shall increasingly give them fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 There they pass from hand to hand a cup wherein is neither vanity nor cause of sin. 23 ۞ and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will turn to one another ask questions, 25 They will say: "Behold, aforetime - when we were [still living] in the midst of our kith and kin - we were full of fear [at the thought of God's displeasure]: 26 "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. 27 Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
