The 'Aad belied the sent ones. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: "Will you not fear Allah and obey Him? 124 I am for you a faithful Messenger, 125 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. 127 "Do ye build a landmark on every high place to amuse yourselves? 128 And do you take to yourselves underground reservoirs, in order to live for ever! 129 "And when you seize, seize you as tyrants? 130 So guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me 131 and fear Him who has succoured you with what you know, 132 Provided you with grazing livestock and children 133 gardens, and springs. 134 Verily I fear for you the torment of a Mighty Day. 135 They said, 'Alike it is to us, whether thou admonishest, or art not one of the admonishers; 136 This is not but the custom of the former peoples, 137 "And we are not the ones to receive Pains and Penalties!" 138 Eventually they gave the lie to him and We destroyed them. Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 139 Surely, your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
