The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
