And the chiefs of his people, who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and on whom We had bestowed the good things of this life, said: "He is no more than a man like yourselves: he eats of that of which ye eat, and drinks of what ye drink. 33 And if you obey a mortal like yourselves, then most surely you will be losers: 34 What! does he threaten you that when you are dead and become dust and bones that you shall then be brought forth? 35 ۞ Far-fetched, far-fetched indeed is what you are promised! 36 This is our only life. We live and will die but we will never be brought back to life again. 37 He is only a man who invents lies against God, so have no faith in him". 38 He said, “My Lord! Help me as they deny me.” 39 Answered (the Lord): "They shall wake up repenting soon." 40 Then the shout laid hold of them in truth, and We made them a refuse; so away with the wrong-doing people! 41 AND AFTER them We gave rise to new generations: 42 no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. 43 Then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time there came to a nation its messenger, they denied him, so We made them follow one another [to destruction], and We made them narrations. So away with a people who do not believe. 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and clear authority 45 To Pharaoh and his nobles who behaved with arrogance, for they were a conceited lot, 46 They therefore said, “Shall we believe in two humans like ourselves, whereas their nation is servile to us?” 47 So they rejected them both, and became those who were destroyed. 48 We gave Moses the Book so that they might be guided. 49 And We made the son of Maryam and his mother a sign; and We sheltered the twain on a height: a quiet abode and running water. 50
