The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 It will be a place of return 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 Requital corresponding. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
