Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Verily We! We sent Nuh unto his people saying: warn thy people ere there come unto them torment afflictive. 1 He said: 'My nation, I am a clear warner for you. 2 saying, "Serve God, and fear Him, and obey you me, 3 "So He may forgive you your sins and give you respite for a stated Term: for when the Term given by Allah is accomplished, it cannot be put forward: if ye only knew." 4 He said: "O Lord, I called my people night and day, 5 but it has had no effect on them except to make them run away. 6 And verily so oft as I call them, that Thou mayest forgive them, they place their fingers into their ears, and wrap themselves with their garments, and persist, and are stiff-necked. 7 Then surely I called to them aloud: 8 "Further I have spoken to them in public and secretly in private, 9 Then I said, Ask forgiveness of your Lord, surely He is the most Forgiving: 10 He will send down abundant rain from the sky for you, 11 and will provide you with wealth and children, and will bestow upon you gardens and rivers. 12 What has come upon you that you do not fear the majesty of God, 13 Knowing that He has created you by various stages? 14 Do you not see how Allah has created seven heavens, one upon the other, 15 And has made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp? 16 And Allah hath caused you to grow from the earth as a growth. 17 And afterward He maketh you return thereto, and He will bring you forth again, a (new) forthbringing. 18 Allah has made the earth spread out for you 19 That you may go along therein in wide paths. 20
