HENCE, [remember how it was] when thy Sustainer summoned Moses: "Go unto those evil doing people. 10 the people of Pharaoh, who refuse to be conscious of Me!" 11 He answered: "O my Sustainer! Behold, I fear that they will give me the lie, 12 And my breast straitens, and my tongue is not eloquent, therefore send Thou to Haroun (to help me); 13 As for me, they hold the charge of a crime against me. I fear they will put me to death." 14 Allah said: "Nay! Go you both with Our Signs. Verily! We shall be with you, listening. 15 Go to Pharaoh and say, 'We are the messengers of the Lord of the worlds, 16 Let the children of Israel go with us!'" 17 (Pharaoh) said: "Did we not cherish thee as a child among us, and didst thou not stay in our midst many years of thy life? 18 And you commited what you did, and you are ungrateful!" 19 Moses replied: "I committed that act erringly. 20 So I fled from you when I feared you, then my Lord granted me wisdom and made me of the apostles; 21 Now this is the favour that you tauntingly remind me of: that you enslaved the Children of Israel!" 22 Fir'awn said: and what is the Lord of the worlds? 23 (Moses) said: Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if ye had but sure belief. 24 The Pharaoh said to the people around him, "Did you hear that?" 25 He said: your Lord and the Lord of your ancient fathers. 26 The Pharaoh said, "The Messenger who has been sent to you is certainly insane". 27 'He is the Lord of the East and the West' said he (Moses), 'and all that is between them, if you could understand' 28 'If you take any other god except myself' he (Pharaoh) replied, 'you shall be thrown into prison' 29 Said Moosa, “Even if I bring to you something clear?” 30 Said he: Bring it then, if you are of the truthful ones. 31 So [Musa (Moses)] threw his stick, and behold, it was a serpent, manifest. 32 And he drew forth his hand, and lo! it appeared white to the onlookers. 33
