The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And water poured out 31 and fruits abounding 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For those on the right. 38
