By no means! By the moon, 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 a warning to mortal man 36 To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind. 37 Every soul will be in captivity for its deeds 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 who in their gardens will be enquiring 40 Of evil-doers: 41 "What has caused you to enter Hell?" 42 They will answer: “We were not among those who observed Prayer, 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allah's punishment). 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 But none will keep it in remembrance except as Allah wills: He is the Lord of Righteousness, and the Lord of Forgiveness. 56
