A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Mim Sad. 1 [This is] a Book revealed to you, [O Muhammad] - so let there not be in your breast distress therefrom - that you may warn thereby and as a reminder to the believers. 2 Follow what has been revealed to you from your Lord and do not follow guardians besides Him, how little do you mind. 3 How many towns have We destroyed (for their sins)? Our punishment took them on a sudden by night or while they slept for their afternoon rest. 4 Therefore they uttered nothing when Our punishment came to them, except that they said, “Indeed we were the unjust.” 5 So We shall call to account those to whom Messengers were sent, and We shall call to account the Messengers (to see how dutifully they conveyed the Message, and how people responded to it). 6 with full knowledge, We shall tell them what they did, for We have never been away from them. 7 And true will be the weighing on that Day; and those whose weight [of good deeds] is heavy in the balance - it is they, they who shall attain to a happy state; 8 And whosesoever balances will be light - those are they who have lost themselves in respect of Our signs. 9 And indeed We established you in the earth and in it created for you the means of livelihood; very little thanks do you offer! 10
