The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 The closing night, 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 Verily, this (the Quran) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
