And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He asked them, "Can the idols hear you when you pray to them 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 Do not betray me 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 “By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error.” 97 "'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 nor a loving friend. 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
