The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the sun and its noon-time brightness, 1 and by the moon as it follows it, 2 And [by] the day when it displays it 3 And by the night as it conceals it (the sun); 4 By the heaven and Who built it, 5 and by the earth and how He spread it, 6 The soul and how it was integrated 7 and imbued it with (the consciousness of) its evil and its piety: 8 Indeed successful is the one who made it pure. 9 And he fails that corrupts it! 10 TO [THIS] TRUTH gave the lie, in their overweening arrogance, [the tribe of] Thamud, 11 When among them the great wretch arose, 12 The Messenger of God told them, "This is a she-camel, belonging to God. Do not deprive her of her share of water". 13 But they belied him, and hamstrung her. So their Lord crushed them for their sin and leveled it (their village). 14 And for Him is no fear of its consequences. 15
