Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 whereas the blazing fire will be laid open before those who had been lost in grievous error; 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 instead of God? Can these [things and beings] be of any help to you or to themselves?" 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 no loyal friend. 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
