And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They said, "In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise." 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 "The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons." 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 "Nor a caring friend." 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
