Stories (Al-Qasas)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Ta. Sin. Mim. 1 These are Verses of the Book that makes (things) clear. 2 We rehearse to thee some of the story of Moses and Pharaoh in Truth, for people who believe. 3 Pharaoh had exalted himself in the land and had divided its people into sects, one group he abased, putting their sons to death and sparing their women, for he was one of those who corrupted. 4 And We willed to favour those who were weak in the earth, and to make them leaders and to make them the inheritors (of the land and wealth of Firaun’s people). 5 And We should establish them in the earth, and We should let Fir'awn and Haman and their hosts see from them that which they dreaded. 6 And We revealed to Musa's mothers, saying: Give him suck, then when you fear for him, cast him into the river and do not fear nor grieve; surely We will bring him back to you and make him one of the apostles. 7 Then the household of Fir'aun (Pharaoh) picked him up, that he might become for them an enemy and a (cause of) grief. Verily! Fir'aun (Pharaoh), Haman and their hosts were sinners. 8 Said Pharaoh's wife, 'He will be a comfort to me and thee. Slay him not; perchance he will profit us, or we will take him for a son.' And they were not aware. 9 And the heart of Musa's mother was free (from anxiety) she would have almost disclosed it had We not strengthened her heart so that she might be of the believers. 10 She said to Moses' sister, "Go, and follow him." So she watched him from a distance, like a stranger, without anyone noticing her. 11 ۞ We made (Moses) refuse a wet nurse. So his sister said: "Should I tell you of a household that could bring him up for you and take care of him?" 12 So, We restored him to his mother, so that she might be comforted and not sorrow, and that she might know that the promise of Allah is true. Yet most of them do not know. 13
