۞ (Then will the command be given): “Muster all the wrong-doers and their spouses and the deities whom they used to serve 22 apart from Allah, and direct them to the path of Hell, 23 And stop them, for they shall be questioned: 24 What is the matter with you that you do not help each other? 25 Indeed, today they are surrendering themselves completely.” 26 They will turn upon one another, and question one another. 27 They will say: "It was you who used to come to us from the right side [i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, order us for polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islamic Monotheism and from every good deed]." 28 They will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were not believers. 29 We had no power over you. In fact, you were a people rebellious. 30 Now the Word of our Lord hath been fulfilled concerning us. Lo! we are about to taste (the doom). 31 "We led you astray: for truly we were ourselves astray." 32 So, they will become partners in punishment. 33 Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners. 34 Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allah," were arrogant 35 and said, "Should we give up our idols for the sake of an insane poet". 36 Nay! he (Muhammad SAW) has come with the truth (i.e. Allah's Religion - Islamic Monotheism and this Quran) and he confirms the Messengers (before him who brought Allah's religion - Islamic Monotheism). 37 Behold, you will indeed taste grievous suffering [in the life to come,] 38 although you shall not be requited for aught but what you were wont to do. 39 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 40 For them awaits a known provision, 41 Fruits. And they will be honoured 42 In Gardens of Felicity, 43 Facing each other on Thrones (of Dignity): 44 Round them will be passed a cup of pure wine; 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 Wherein there is no headache nor are they made mad thereby. 47 And with them are those who do not set gaze upon men except their husbands, the maidens with gorgeous eyes. 48 As though they were eggs hidden. 49 Then one turned to the other in an enquiry. 50 one of them will say, "I had a friend, 51 who would say, "Are you a confirmer? 52 (Do you think) we would be paid back our due when we are dead and reduced to dust and bones?' 53 Then he will say, "Shall we look for him?" 54 He will look down and see him in hell. 55 He will say to him: -- By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 for had it not been for my Sustainer's favour, I would surely be [now] among those who are given over [to suffering]! 57 What, do we then not die 58 “Except our earlier death, and nor will we be punished?” 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 For such a reward should the workers perform. 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Truly We have made it (as) a trail for the Zalimun (polytheists, disbelievers, wrong-doers, etc.). 63 Indeed it is a tree that sprouts from the base of hell. 64 and its fruits are like the heads of devils. 65 Truly they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water. 67 Then to Hell they will surely be returned. 68 Verily, they found their fathers on the wrong path; 69 But they make haste (to follow) in their footsteps. 70 Before them a multitude of people of olden times had erred, 71 although, verily, We had sent warners unto them: 72 See how those who were warned met their end! 73 Save single-minded slaves of Allah. 74
