The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
