We did indeed send Noah to his people and he lived among them a thousand years save fifty. Eventually the Flood overtook them while they were engaged in wrongdoing. 14 But We saved him and those with him in the ark, and made it a sign for the creatures of the world. 15 And Abraham, [too, was inspired by Us] when he said unto his people: "Worship God, and be conscious of Him: this is the best for you, if you but knew it! 16 "For ye do worship idols besides Allah, and ye invent falsehood. The things that ye worship besides Allah have no power to give you sustenance: then seek ye sustenance from Allah, serve Him, and be grateful to Him: to Him will be your return. 17 And if you reject (the truth), nations before you did indeed reject (the truth); and nothing is incumbent on the apostle but a plain delivering (of the message). 18 Have they not considered how Allah begins creation and then repeats it? Indeed that, for Allah, is easy. 19 Say: Journey in the land, then behold how He originated creation; then God causes the second growth to grow; God is powerful over everything, 20 Punish whom He will, and have mercy on whom He please. And to Him will you be brought back in the end. 21 And you cannot escape in the earth or in the heaven. And besides Allah you have neither any Wali (Protector or Guardian) nor any Helper. 22
