۞ Muster those who did evil, their wives, and that they were serving, 22 apart from God, and guide them unto the path of Hell! 23 and detain them there; they will be called to account. 24 What aileth you that ye succour not one another? 25 Nay, but this day they make full submission. 26 and approach each other with questions, 27 saying: 'You used to come to us from the right hand' 28 Others will respond, "It was you who did not want to have any faith. 29 we had no authority over you; no, you were an insolent people. 30 But now our Sustainer's word has come true against us [as well]: verily, we are bound to taste [the fruit of our sins]. 31 So then, [if it be true that] we have caused you to err grievously - behold, we ourselves had been lost in grievous error!" 32 So, they will become partners in punishment. 33 Thus do We treat the culprits. 34 They were the ones, who on being told, "God is only One," become puffed-up with pride 35 and said, "Should we give up our idols for the sake of an insane poet". 36 Aye! he hath come with the truth, and he confesseth to the sent ones. 37 (They will be told): “You shall taste the grievous chastisement. 38 And you shall not be rewarded except (for) what you did. 39 Save the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 40 For them awaits a known provision, 41 Fruits; and they will be honored 42 in the Gardens of Delight, 43 (Sitting) on couches, face to face, 44 Round shall be passed a cup unto them filled with limpid drink: 45 delicious to those who drink it 46 Neither they will have Ghoul (any kind of hurt, abdominal pain, headache, a sin, etc.) from that, nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 And with them shall be damsels of refraining looks, large-eyed 48 As if they were (delicate) eggs closely guarded. 49 Then they will advance unto each other, mutually questioning. 50 One of them will say: 'I had a companion 51 Who used to say: "Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death). 52 What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be requited?" 53 Allah will say: will ye look down? 54 Then, he will look and see him in the midst of Hell. 55 He will say, "By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 But for Allah's favour, I should be one of those who have been mustered here. 57 But then, [O my friends in paradise,] is it [really] so that we are not to die 58 except for our first death? And shall we suffer no chastisement?'” 59 Verily this! that is the supreme achievement. 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is such [a paradise] the better welcome - or the [hellish] tree of deadly fruit? 62 Lo! We have appointed it a torment for wrong-doers. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hellfire: 64 its spathes are as the heads of Satans, 65 and they [who are lost in evil] are indeed bound to eat thereof, and to fill their bellies therewith. 66 On top of it they shall have a brew of boiling water, 67 then surely they shall return to Hell. 68 Surely they found their fathers going astray, 69 So they (too) made haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 And verily most of the men of old went astray before them, 71 although, verily, We had sent warners unto them: 72 See how those who were warned met their end! 73 Except the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 74
