Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Ha, Meem. 1 A revelation from [God], the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful -- 2 A Book whose signs have been distinguished as an Arabic Koran for a people having knowledge, 3 A herald of good news and a warner, but most of them turn aside so they hear not. 4 And they say, "Our hearts are encased against that to which you call us, and there is a heaviness in our ears, and there is a barrier between us, so do as you will and so shall we." 5 Say, O [Muhammad], "I am only a man like you to whom it has been revealed that your god is but one God; so take a straight course to Him and seek His forgiveness." And woe to those who associate others with Allah - 6 who do not pay the zakat, and who deny the Hereafter. 7 Verily those who believe and work righteous works - unto them shall be a hire unceasing. 8
