S (Saad)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Suad, I swear by the Quran, full of admonition. 1 But the unbelievers are still full of pride and hostility. 2 How many generations have We destroyed before them who cried (for mercy) when it was too late for escape. 3 They wondered that a warner had come to them from among themselves, and the deniers of the Truth said: “This is a sorcerer, and a big liar. 4 “Has he made all the Gods into One God? This is really something very strange!” 5 And their leaders went about, “Leave him and cling steadfastly to your Gods! Indeed he has a hidden objective in this!” 6 We heard not thereof in the later faith; this is naught but an invention. 7 Can it be that he alone has received the Quran?" In fact, they have doubts about My Quran and this is because they have not yet faced (My) torment. 8 Or do they [think that they] own the treasures of thy Sustainer's grace - [the grace] of the Almighty, the Giver of Gifts? 9 Or have they the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all between? If so, let them mount up with the ropes and means (to reach that end)! 10 [But] there it is: any and all human beings, however [strongly] leagued together, are bound to suffer defeat [whenever they refuse to accept the truth]. 11 Before them the people of Noah denied the truth, as did the 'Ad and Pharaoh of the Stakes, 12 So also did the people of Thamud, Lot, and the dwellers of the Forest. 13 not one, that cried not lies to the Messengers, so My retribution was just. 14
