Noah (Nooh)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
We sent Noah to his people telling him, "Warn your people before a painful torment approaches them". 1 He said, 'O my people, I am unto you a clear warner, 2 that you should worship God [alone] and be conscious of Him. Pay heed to me. 3 so that He may forgive you some of your sins, and grant you respite until a term known [to Him alone]: but, behold, when the term appointed by God does come, it can never be put back - if you but knew it!" 4 He said: O my Lord! surely I have called my people by night and by day! 5 but my calling has only increased them in flight. 6 And indeed, every time I invited them that You may forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their garments, persisted, and were arrogant with [great] arrogance. 7 Then verily I have called unto them publicly 8 "Then verily, I proclaimed to them in public, and I have appealed to them in private, 9 Then I said, Ask forgiveness of your Lord, surely He is the most Forgiving: 10 He will send down abundant rain from the sky for you, 11 And give you increase in wealth and children and provide for you gardens and provide for you rivers. 12 What is [the matter] with you that you do not attribute to Allah [due] grandeur 13 While He has created you in (different) stages [i.e. first Nutfah, then 'Alaqah and then Mudghah, see (VV. 23:13, 14) the Quran]. 14 See you not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another, 15 And has placed the moon therein, an illumination, and has placed the sun, a lighted lamp? 16 And Allah hath caused you to grow as a growth from the earth, 17 and to it He will return you. Then, He will bring you forth. 18 "'And God has made the earth a wide expanse for you, 19 so that you might walk thereon on spacious paths.'" 20
