Thus did We deliver the Children of Israel from the humiliating chastisement, 30 From Fir'aun (Pharaoh); Verily! He was arrogant and was of the Musrifun (those who transgress beyond bound in spending and other things and commit great sins). 31 We knowingly chose them above all other people 32 And We gave them signs in which lay clear favours. 33 Indeed these people say: 34 there is nothing beyond our first death; we shall not be raised again. 35 Bring us our fathers, if you speak truly!' 36 Are they, then, better than the people of Tubba and those before them, whom We destroyed because they were truly lost in [the same] sin? 37 And We did not create the heavens and earth and that between them in play. 38 We created them not except with truth (i.e. to examine and test those who are obedient and those who are disobedient and then reward the obedient ones and punish the disobedient ones), but most of them know not. 39 The Day of Decision is the appointed time for all. 40 A Day whereon a friend shall not avail a friend at all, nor shall they be helped. 41 Apart from those to whom God is kind. He is all-mighty and all-merciful. 42
