Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 well arranged goblets, 14 And cushions ranged! 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
