He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And he feareth 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Noble and pious. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
