AND, BEHOLD, Jonah was indeed one of Our message-bearers 139 Call to mind when he fled to the laden ship, 140 Then lots were drawn and he became of those who were pushed into the sea. 141 Then he was swallowed by a large fish as he was worthy of blame. 142 Had he not been of them who glorify Allah, 143 He would have remained in its belly till the day when all will be raised. 144 ۞ We cast him out of the fish unto dry land and he was sick. 145 We made a plant of gourd grow up for him. 146 And We had sent him to a hundred thousand: rather they exceeded. 147 and they believed; so We gave them enjoyment for a while. 148 Now, ask them, has your Lord daughters, and they sons? 149 Or did We create the angels as females while they were witnesses?" 150 Is it not a lie invented by them when they say: 151 'Allah has begotten' They are truly liars. 152 Has He (then) chosen daughters rather than sons? 153 What is the matter with you? How judge ye? 154 Will you not then mind? 155 Do you have any clear authority for such claims? 156 Then bring your book, if you are truthful. 157 And they assert a relationship between Him and the jinn; and certainly the jinn do know that they shall surely be brought up; 158 Glorified is Allah! (He is Free) from what they attribute unto Him! 159 Except the chosen servants of Allah [who do not share in that sin]. 160 For, verily, neither ye nor those ye worship- 161 you shall not tempt any against Him 162 except those who will burn in Hell. 163 None of us is there, but has a known station; 164 "And we are truly those who stand in rows, 165 Lo! we, even we are they who hymn His praise 166 And they surely were wont to say: 167 "Had we received guidance from the people living before us, 168 We would have been the chosen creatures of God." 169 But (now) they disbelieve in it, so they will come to know. 170 We have already given Our promise to Our Messengers 171 Most surely they shall be the assisted ones 172 And that Our forces,- they surely must conquer. 173 So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) awhile, 174 and see them; soon they shall see! 175 What, do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 176 When it comes down on their plains, it will be an evil dawn for those who had been warned. 177 So turn (away) from them for a while, 178 And wait, for they will soon see. 179 Hallowed be thine Lord, the Lord of Majesty, from that which they ascribe! 180 And peace be upon the Envoys; 181 and all praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Universe. 182
