The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 there is no denying its coming 2 abasing, exalting, 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and spreading shade 30 And water everflowing. 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 and upraised couches. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 chastely amorous, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
