Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ THE CONCRETE REALITY. 1 What is the Inevitable? 2 And what will teach thee what is the Indubitable? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. 4 But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning! 5 And as to Ad, they were destroyed by a roaring, violent blast. 6 Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms! 7 Beholdest thou any of them remaining? 8 And Firon and those before him and the overthrown cities continuously committed sins. 9 and they rebelled against the Messenger of their Lord, and He seized them with a surpassing grip. 10 When the water rose in flood, We bore you in the ark, 11 as a lesson for you, but only attentive ears will retain it. 12 Then when the Horn is blown with one blast 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 On that day, the inevitable event will take place 15 And the heaven will split asunder – so on that day it will be unstable. 16 And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. 17 On that Day you shall be brought to judgment: not [even] the most hidden of your deeds will remain hidden. 18 So whoever is given his book in his right hand – he will say, “Take, read my account!” 19 Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," 20 So he shall be in a pleasing life 21 in a lofty paradise, 22 The fruits in bunches whereof will be low and near at hand. 23 We shall say to him, "Eat and drink joyfully as a reward for the good deeds you did in days gone by." 24 But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record 25 And not known my account! 26 Oh, would that it had been the ending! 27 Of no use was even my wealth. 28 my authority is gone from me.' 29 [Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him. 30 Then into Hellfire drive him. 31 then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. 32 Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, 33 and he never urged the feeding of the needy; 34 Therefore he has not here today a true friend, 35 and has no food except the filth from the washing of wounds, 36 Which none but the hellish eat." 37
