And to Ad their brother Hood; he said, 'O my people, serve God! You have no god other than He; you are but forgers. 50 I ask of you nothing in return for this [Message]. My recompense is with Him who has created me. Why do you not use your reason? 51 "My people, seek forgiveness from your Lord and turn to Him in repentance. He will send you abundant rain from the sky and will increase your power. Do not sinfully turn away from Him." 52 Said they: "O Hud! Thou hast brought us no clear evidence [that thou art a prophet]; and we are not going to forsake our gods on thy mere word, the more so as we do not believe thee. 53 All that we say is that some of our gods have smitten thee with evil. He said: verily I call Allah to witness, and bear ye witness, that I am quit of that which ye associate. 54 Beside Him. So (try to) circumvent me, all of you, give me no respite. 55 “I rely upon Allah, Who is my Lord and your Lord; there is not a creature that walks, whose forelock is not in His control; indeed my Lord can be found on the Straight Path.” 56 But if you turn back, then indeed I have delivered to you the message with which I have been sent to you, and my Lord will bring another people in your place, and you cannot do Him any harm; surely my Lord is the Preserver of all things. 57 And when Our com-mand came to pass, We delivered Hud, together with those who shared his faith, out of special mercy from Us. We delivered them from a woeful chastisement. 58 That was Ad; they denied the signs of their Lord, and rebelled against His Messengers, and followed the command of every froward tyrant. 59 So they were accursed in the world, and they will be damned on the Day of Doom. Beware! The 'Ad turned away from their Lord. 60
