In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of those that are sent, one after the other. (The verses of the Holy Qur’an or the angels or the winds). 1 storming tempestuously 2 by the scatterers scattering 3 thus separating [right and wrong] with all clarity, 4 by those who bring down the reminder, 5 to provide excuses for some and to give warnings to others: 6 Surely that which ye are promised will befall. 7 So when the stars are extinguished, 8 and the sky is rent asunder, 9 And when the mountains are made into dust and blown away. 10 And when the apostles are gathered at their appointed time 11 For what day is the time appointed? 12 For the Day of sorting out (the men of Paradise from the men destined for Hell). 13 Would that you knew about the Day of Judgment! 14 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 15 Did We not destroy the ancient people 16 So shall We make later generations to follow them. 17 [for] thus do We deal with such as are lost in sin. 18 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 19 Did We not create you from a liquid disdained? 20 then placed it in a secure repository [the womb], 21 Till a limit known? 22 So We proportion it-- how well are We at proportioning (things). 23 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 24 Did We not make the earth as a gathering place 25 For the living and the dead among you? 26 And made therein lofty mountains, and given you to drink of sweet water? 27 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 28 “Move towards what you used to deny!” 29 "Depart ye to a Shadow (of smoke ascending) in three columns, 30 "(Which yields) no shade of coolness, and is of no use against the fierce Blaze. 31 Verily it shall cast forth sparks like unto a castle. 32 "As if there were (a string of) yellow camels (marching swiftly)." 33 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 34 They will not be able to speak that day, 35 Nor will it be permitted for them to make an excuse. 36 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 37 This is the Day of Decision; We have gathered you and all the earlier men. 38 If you have any plans, use them. 39 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 40
