And We did certainly create man out of clay from an altered black mud. 26 And the jinn We created before from scorching fire. 27 Behold! thy Lord said to the angels: "I am about to create man, from sounding clay from mud moulded into shape; 28 When I have shaped him and ran My created soul in him fall down prostrating towards him'. 29 then the angels all prostrated themselves together. 30 Except Iblis (Satan), - he refused to be among the prostrators. 31 Said He: "O Iblis! What is thy reason for not being among those who have prostrated themselves?" 32 He replied, "I am not one to prostrate myself to a man whom You have created out of a clay of moulded mud." 33 Said He: "Go forth, then, from this [angelic state]: for, behold, thou art [henceforth] accursed, 34 and will be subjected to condemnation until the Day of Judgment." 35 He said: My Lord! then respite me till the time when they are raised. 36 He said: Then lo! thou art of those reprieved 37 Till the period of the time made known. 38 He said, “My Lord! I swear by the fact that You sent me astray, I shall distract them in the earth, and I shall lead all of them astray.” 39 "Except Your chosen, (guided) slaves among them." 40 Said He: "This is, with Me, a straight way: 41 over My servants thou shalt have no authority, except those that follow thee, 42 Surely Hell is the promised place for all of them." 43 It has seven gates; for every gate there shall be a separate party of them. 44
