Have you seen him who turns his back, 33 and gives a little, grudgingly? 34 Has he knowledge of the unseen, so that he sees? 35 Or, has he not been told of that which is in the Scrolls of Moses 36 and of Abraham, who to his trust was true: 37 Certainly no one will bear the responsibility of the sins of another, 38 That a man receives but only that for which he strives; 39 and that in time [the nature of] all his striving will be shown [to him in its true light,] 40 and that he shall then be fully recompensed, 41 And that thy Lord, He is the goal; 42 that it is He who causes to laugh and causes to weep. 43 That it is He Who granteth Death and Life; 44 and that He Himself created the two kinds, male and female, 45 From a seed when lodged (in its place); 46 and that upon Him rests the second growth, 47 and that it is He alone who frees from want and causes to possess; 48 And that He is the Lord of the Sirius; 49 And that He destroyed the former 'A-ad. 50 And (the tribe of) Thamud He spared not; 51 and the people of Noah; they were the most unjust and rebellious people. 52 And that it is He Who threw down the upturned townships? 53 So there covered them that which covered. 54 Then which of the gifts of thy Lord, (O man,) wilt thou dispute about? 55 This is a warning among the warnings of yore. 56 The approaching event has come near. 57 No one besides God can rescue a soul from hardship. 58 Do you then marvel at this discourse, 59 And keep laughing and do not weep, 60 and divert yourselves all the while? 61 So make obeisance to Allah and serve (Him). ۩ 62
