Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
HA MIM. 1 I call to witness the lucent Book, 2 Verily We! We have made it an Arabic Qur'an that haply ye may reflect. 3 And Lo! in the Source of Decrees, which We possess, it is indeed sublime, decisive. 4 Shall We utterly ignore you because ye are a wanton folk? 5 And how many a prophet have We sent among the ancients. 6 And not a prophet came unto them but him they were wont to mock. 7 Then We destroyed those who were stronger than these in prowess, and the case of the ancients has gone before, 8 And if you should ask them, Who created the heavens and the earth? they would most certainly say: The Mighty, the Knowing One, has created them; 9 He it is Who made this earth for you a cradle and made in it pathways for you that you may find the way to your destination; 10 And Who sends down water (rain) from the sky in due measure. Then We revive a dead land therewith, and even so you will be brought forth (from the dead), 11 and who created the pairs, all of them, and appointed for you ships and cattle such as you ride, 12 so that you may sit firmly on their backs. Then once you have mounted them, remember your Lord's favour and say, "Glory be to Him who has subjected these creatures to us; we would never on our own have subdued them. 13 To our Lord we shall all return". 14 AND YET, they attribute to Him offspring from among some of the beings created by Him! Verily, most obviously bereft of all gratitude is man! 15
